Both the subjects and the researchers watched for cosmetic differences in the wounds at weeks one, four, and twelve after the study's initiation. The results of this study showed that unlike the common belief, for 90% of the subjects, the Vitamin E cream not only did not affect the scars, but made the overall appearance of the wound worse. Further, 33% of the subjects developed a reaction to the Vitamin E cream. From these findings, researchers do not encourage using Vitamin E cream for the healing of scars.
